 Courtroom Demos

The McGlothlin Courtroom at William & Mary Law School is the hub of CLCT. Designed with the help of renowned designer Martin Gruen, the Courtroom is the most technologically advanced trial and appellate courtroom in the world. It is designed to permit trials with multiple remote appearances, electronically presented evidence, and web-published court records.

The Courtroom has a wide variety of differing technologies, including all available major court record systems, evidence presentation technologies, assistive and foreign language interpretation technologies and critical infrastructure technologies. The Courtroom is upgraded frequently and is the home of the annual Courtroom 21 Laboratory Trial.

CLCT conducts frequent technology demonstrations in the Courtroom. Presentations customarily include specific hardware and software demonstrations, as well as discussion of the legal and pragmatic implications of use of the given technologies. Presentations can be conducted live or via two-way videoconferencing. Using "six channel" 384K Tandberg videoconferencing, CLCT staff can conduct interactive presentations to any location in the world which has modern videoconferencing communications.

Due to CLCT's public service nature, CLCT staff seek to accept as many speaking invitations as possible. Unfortunately, the sheer number of requests and the many conflicting demands on the staff and facility can make this difficult. Accordingly, we recommend that invitations be extended and presentations requested 18 months or more in advance. Early scheduling is especially important for international activities.

Those interested in attending a presentation of extending a speaking invitation should contact "CLCT staff at:
